FAQ / Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you offer entry fee refunds, transfers to other distances or switches to next year or other RSR races?
Entry fees are not refundable under any circumstance, race registrations are not transferable to other participants, future years races or other Rocksteady Running events – additionally we do do not allow transfers between distances. Acceptance of these conditions is part of the registration process. Please note that emails requesting any of the above will not be answered.

Your race is sold out, can I get on the waiting list?
We do not keep a waiting list – instead we accept extra runners up front so that everyone has the same opportunity to train, make reservations, get a babysitter, etc. This means that a withdrawal prior to race day does not create an opening in the race field – it just brings us down to our predetermined field limit which is set in accordance with our permitor(s). We have found that a percentage of those chosen in the lottery will not make it to the starting line due to injury, illness, or other “real life” interventions and adjust the number of allocated spots accordingly year to year based on historical averages.

Your website says that registration is closed, do you have room for one more or can I register on race day?
No, sorry, we cannot reopen registration for you and we do not offer race day registration.  Registration closes if the field limit is met or on a specified date if the field limit is not met.  Closing the race on the published date allows us time to finalize our start list, assign numbers and take care of other critical race preparation – as a very small organization we find that closing registration about a week before an event allows us to produce the best event possible.

I need a pacer for the 100 mile race, can you find / arrange one for me?
Sorry, we cannot find you a pacer that goes beyond the scope of what we choose to do as a race organization.  If you are looking for a pacer we suggest that you ask a friend, someone in your local running group or if you are from out of town check with one of our local running groups such as Upper Midwest Trail Runners, you can connect with members via the UMTR Facebook Page. Keep in mind that our races have a very high volunteer to runner ratio and many runners find that support at aid stations all that they need as long as they plan accordingly and make good use of their drop bags.  Usually the best approach is to find someone who knows you as a runner – preferably someone you have done long runs with or have run long races with – that way they will know how to read you, anticipate your needs, push you when needed and hold back when required. If you don’t have someone like this to help, another experienced ultrarunner should work. What you don’t want is someone that YOU will end up having to take care of on the trail.
